Child support

Can a dead beat dad stop paying child support if his kids have become young adults even if the other parent just started recieving child support from lost years?

Unless otherwise stated in the divorce decree or child support order, child support ends when the child reaches 18. However, the parent paying child support can not just stop paying, they would need to petition the court to stop the child support based on the age of the child. Any arrears that the parent owes still needs to be paid pursuant to the court order which established the arrears.
