Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Co-signed for exgirlfriends loan

I co-signed for my exgirlfriends loan to consolidate her debt from a divorce so she would not have to file bankruptcy, and so she could payback money she owed me. Now she left and went back to her exhusband and kids, how do I get my name off the loan and make her pay it back?

And get her off the deed for the house we bought together?

Re: Co-signed for exgirlfriends loan

You ask the bank and I am sure they will say no! That's what being a co-signer is all about. To make her pay back, you will need to sue her. You can ask her to quit claim the property to you or else try and sue her for that too.
