Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I owe my sons preschool $800 in tuition. I am owed Bears Preseason tickets that I paid for in an auction and never received by the school. The preseason is now over. I told them I would pay when I got my tickets. Can I deduct the value of the tickets from what I owe? Or can I only deduct what I paid for the tickets at the auction?

The auction was probably not legally done by the preschool but a separate entity. Who did you make the check payable to? You may not be able to deduct anything if they are different entities. If they are the same, as you are not out the cost of real pre-seasons tickets the most you can set off is the money you paid for ht tickets at the auction (but again, that is if they are the same entities.)
