Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Hello, I recieved a notice from a collection company (Midland Funding), regarding a debt that they purchased. When I inquired what the unpaid debt was they were unable to tell me the source. This has been an on going issue for last 4yrs... I have disputed this debt on my credit report and have an open dispute in place, as they have been unable to provide me with detailed information of the orginal debt, and show this debt as my debt. Now amdist the dispute, they have now issues a wage garnishment which is set to start in 30days. How can they begin to garnish my wages when they have been unable to establish the validity of this debt. Is there anything I can do or I am just stuck paying a bill I truly dont believe I owe?

There must be a judgment against you. Ask your employer for a copy of the papers. It should give you a case number. You can then look at that file.
