Almost all unearned incomelike unemployment, disability, or retirement benefitsis exempt. If your only income is Social Security, Unemployment, Workers Comp, Public Aid, or a pension, youre a legal turnip. A creditor cant touch those benefits, and a judge cant order you pay out of them.
