statements

In a statement made to police, do any changes made in the statement have to be initialed by the person who made the statement? If a change is made but not initialed by the person who made the statement, is the entire statement void?

No, the statement itself is not void. But, in the hands of a skilled cross-examiner, a lot of doubt will be cast on the entire statement. That happens during trial.
