Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Illinois

Age Discrimination 12/30/2010

Facts - My wife is over 63 in age and, for the past 15 years shes worked, in the office, for a prominent bank. Her attendance has been near perfect, receiving many awards! Her job dealt with work, where she consistently earned bonuses for her performance!

Recently, my wife was called into an office by her manager who told her that she had mishandled an account costing the company to lose a law suit! My wife explained to me that she wasnt the first or only person to handle the this particular account and that it had been handled by several others, before her! She was then told that the company had a zero tolerance policy on such mistakes and, she was told that she had to sign a statement for this! She now expects to be let go before or at years end, 2010! Happy New Years!

Isnt this a clear case seeking an excuse for, thinning the herd of the most senior staffers. And a clear case of age discrimination?
