Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Illinois

Name placement on record

I was part of a band and recorded all drum tracks on a full length album. I quit the band before the album was released. I've noticed with studio drummers who aren't part of a band that recorded the drum tracks, their name is listed on the album but separate from the band. Is it my right to keep my name listed on the album even as listed under as a studio drummer without having to sign a contract or pay a fee?

Re: Name placement on record

There's a lot more issues here besides your credit on the album. If you were a full member of the band, or in the eyes of the law, a partner in the band partnership, you still have an ownership interest in that recording and its copyright. When you left the partnership was this ownership issue taken care of? Were you bought out of your ownership interest?
