Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Is it my child?

I am a soldier in the U.S. Army. Recently i found out i might have a child in Chicago. I can not afford to go to Chiago for a DNA test and she cannot afford to bring the child to Texas. How can I find out if the child is in fact mine? There isn't any tension between her and myself. It is more of a need to know basis. We both owe it to the child to know who it's biological father is. If you can help me to rectify this problem it woud be greatly appreciate it.

Re: Is it my child?

In my neighborhood here in Texas, we would file an action for paternity and utilize the services of the AG's office for the least expensive DNA test which is just as good as anybody else's. If the child's mother is recieving any kind of welfare, the AG usually cooperates with this effort here.

Check with your JAG officer. S/he can help.
