Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I went to court (in Chicago) for a Rule to Show Cause regarding NCP attempting to enroll child in a school 30+ miles away from my home. The judge asked NCP if they did this of course NCP said "YES", and just had NCP apologize to the courts. The Rule was denied.

I have sole custody of my daughter, Judgment states that I will inform NCP of doctors and schools picked.

So my question I guess would be how can a person admit to doing something wrong with no recourse? to just apologize what a joke.

If this was me they would do something more drastic.

I had an attorney with me that I thought had the gonads to stand up and speak and not play like a dead dog, May be its time to find another that will actually do something.

I think it's because you do not understand what a rule to show cause is. Once the person PURGES himself of the violation, the court lacks power to order anything. The only time the court can PUNISH is under indirect criminal contempt. Yours was indirect CIVIL contempt.

Your lawyer isn't the problem, nor the court. Blame the state legislator for not granting a more enforceable method of controlling your ex.
