Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Divorce-Pet ''Custody''

I was divorced May-2007, nothing was stated or written about pets. The Ex now says he wants one of the dogs. I don't feel it's right to seperate the two dogs and take them from our children's home as well. If nothing was stated in the finalized divorce papers does he have any ''claim'' or ''right'' to them?

Re: Divorce-Pet ''Custody''

Hello. My answer is no. If the judgment does not mention the dogs, in theory the dogs belong to your children. I would not discuss it with your ex any further. In my opinion your ex is merely trying to harrass you. Will be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have.
