Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

my husband was will a 38 acre farm about 5 years ago.. we have been married for 8 years and have put in alot of money to fix up this home.. he was cheating on me and i found out.. im going to file for divorce, cause this farm was willed to him . does this mean im out in the cold..

Well, is it a farm or is it a home? You need to talk to a divorce attorney when you are ready to file. Or are you worrying about whether you'll wind up getting nothing in the divorce settlement? From what you say, it appaers the farm (house?) is NOT marital property, but if you've helped including putting your own cash and/or sweat equity into it, you may have special "equities" that a court could award you something for -- probably not title to the farm (house?) but some kind of monetary compensation. Do hire a divorce attorney who can look at all the facts and give you a more precise answer and help...
