I live in Illinois. My boyfriend has 3 children from a previous marriage. Do I have to help him pay child support on the children if I marry him?

Only in a roundabout manner. He pays support based on 32% of his aftertax income. You pay or contribute to household or other marital expenses. If he can't fully contribute then your income is making up for a portion if not all of the support which he is paying for his children. You are not, however, legally responsible to pay or contribute to his child support.

No. It is not your obligation. However if you are paying his expenses, those payments might be attributable to him as income. As such he can be ordered to pay support on income which includes those payments. This his support could be increased. But you do not have to pay it. Do not mingle your monies. Do not open joint accounts or buy anything jointly. If you do it is subject to seizure for past due support.
