Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I was married for 28 years to a man that hardly worked. We lived in his family owned house. we divorced and he moved letting me live in the house for 3 years without paying rent saying I could live there because of our 15 year old daughter. I paid property taxes for 2 of those 3 years and also paid his truck insurance for the 3 years with no repayment to me for the insurance. I trusted him and did not get receipts from him for anything I paid to him or paid for him. I left the house owning $900 to the power company. The power was in his name. He's sueing me small claims court for this $900. What is my recourse?

Check your divorce decree and if it talks about any of this -- for example if he was obligated to provide support for your daughter, that may have included providing a home for her. Even without a divorce decree that is specific, he would owe some kind of child support. Get an attorney to help you; depending on various things he may owe YOU money!
