Violations of Court Orders

Is violating a Court Order dealing with child visitation, punishable by law? Crawford County Sheriff's Department says no it is not and they will NOT enforce the order.

Hello. Violating a visitation order is against the law. Many local police departments do not like to get involved, for some reason. It is best to get relief directly from the Court that issued the visitation order. Filing a petition for a rule to show cause why the other parent should not be held in contempt of court for violating the order of visitation is the best approach. I suggests that you retain a lawyer to represent you. Will be happy to answer additional questions that you may have.
