Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

Can you be fired if you are on a medical leave? if you are still on a medical leave by your dr. and you are set to go back to work on light duty by your dr, but your work calls you in for a meeting and says they dont have light duty, and you only have a few more weeks on your fmla, we have to let you go. is this legal?
