If I break something ...?

If I am to break something at a party do I in turn have to pay for that broken item if they opened there house to me? I'm not asking about ethics.

If the item was broken through simple negligence on your part then a judge would not find you responsible. However if it was proven that you broke the item on purpose then it would be easier for a judge to find your responsible for the item.
