Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Collection on Judgment

I have a judgment and a date set for discovery of assets. The debtor is a self-owned company and as far as I can tell has no money assets in a bank. The debtor is suppose to bring a copy of 2003 and 2004 1040 income tax returns. How can I use this to collect? How do I place a lien on company vehicles?

Re: Collection on Judgment

Tax returns are helpful but you should have also requested bank statements, title to autos and other asset related documents. Furthermore, do you have a judgment only against the company or is it also against the individual? Is the company a corporation? Have you recorded the judgment with the county recorders office? What type of business is this? These are just some of the questions you need to find out or do.
