Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

contractor did not finish job but issued a lien

we hired a contractor to help fix our bathroom. the job was to a)remove plastic tile, sand smooth, paint with killz and replace with wall board b) replace the toilet with a different one c) to recaulk around the perimeter of the floor/wall joint the contractor gave us a written estimate for such work and then hired someone else to do the job. the job is not finished even per his terms, the job is unprofessional and not done properly. we had the contractor come back and he refused to discuss anything with us simply demanded more money which was not in accordance with either quote, in fact there was no sanding or painting done at all we offered a lower amount and stated the job was not completed..he issued a lien on our home what are my recourses?

Hello. You may file a lawsuit against the contractor for breach of contract. Your complaint

should include recovery for what you have paid,

what you expected, and the damage the contractor

did by breaching the terms of the contract. Bathroom repair disputes are becoming more and

more common, in my opinion. Of course I suggests

that you retain a lawyer to bring this lawsuit.
