Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Motion to Deem

I filed a small claims case in Nov. 06 and finally have a bench trial date of Feb. 22. Yesterday I received a letter from other party's attorney that says there is a notice of hearing on Feb. 20th -- marked

''Motion to Deem'' What does this mean?

Re: Motion to Deem

In all likelihood it is an incomplete title. Look in the body of the motion, is it based on Supreme Court Rule 216? If so, it is a Motion to Deem Facts as Admitted.

Otherwise, you need to provide more information in order to get a better answer.

I hope this helps,
