Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I purchased a car from a lady on craigslist. The add said the car ran and drove good and was ready to go. She also told me this several times while I was asking about the car. After I left her house with the car it only made it a few miles down the road and broke down. We were told it had a blown head gasket and driving it caused the motor to lock up. She refuses to give us our money back even though I have a text from her saying she would return our money. While we were trying to get a tow truck to come out the car was hit head on and is a total loss. We have found out that the car was never even titled in her name even though she said she drove it all over town and she was getting rid of it because she didnt have a drivers license. I feel she purposely misrepresented the condition of this car and lied to make the sale. Would it do us any good to take her to court since Illinois doesnt have a limon law for used cars? Thank you
