Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I purchased a house with a long time girlfriend. After approx 6 years of payibg the mortage she moved out since then i have paid herapprox $8000 of the 10000 we agreed on to buy her out. Now she is in financial bind and wants more money threatening to just move back in if I don't pay her. Can she really do this? Shes been gone for two years.she said she called the police and they told here they would help her move in, which I can't believe. I do have receipts for the money i have given her this far but nothing was ever done on paper. Will the police come and throw me out of the house and let her in?

You need to sit down with a real estate attorney who can assist you in filing a suit for partition, or in the alternative, mediating a resolution to this problem. Unfortunately, if you are both on the title for the house, you both have rights to the house. Unless the two of you can work something out amicably, you probably need the oversight of the court.

Good luck to you.
