Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I have a question on gift giving. How long can you give an annual gift before it becomes an obligation of payment by the giver of the annual gift.

Gifts mean exactly that. There is no obligation. Even if you gave one every year for a number of years. But if you made a written pledge to give an annual gift to a recognized charity, theoretically the charity could sue for it although it wouldn't look to good to be the charity if they have to sue donors, and especially if you don't have the money. If there are other facts that are leading you to ask the question, however, you should see an attorney.
