Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

I recently got married. Since everything we own is in my name including bank accounts and credit cards and our son has my family name, my husband decided to change his name instead of me and our son changing ours. If he changes his last name to mine, it will mean he and my uncle have the same first and last names. My uncle has threatened to hire an attorney to stop my husband from changing his name because he doesn't want them to have the same first and last names. Can you legally stop someone else from changing their name to their married name? Thank you for the information.
