Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Is a roofing contractor liable for damage to my asphalt driveway from

a dumpster laid on the driveway by a company he hired? Can I withhold

any money from his payment to cover this? There is nothing in the contract

in regard to this.

Your roofer may very well be responsible or the company that provided the dumpster. The contract may not directly address this, but it may do so indirectly. You should have an attorney review the contract if the damage is extensive. You should probably get an estimate for the repair and then discuss this with the contractor. Perhaps he will give you a credit. It is also possible that your homeowners insurance may cover the damage.
