Legal Question in Health Care Law in Illinois

Hospital Laws

Can you sue a Hospital if they did a wrong diagnosis on you? For example, I once accidently cut my finger with a knife and the Hospital told me that my legaments were still attached to my fingers. However, when my fingers healed, my ligaments were actually not attached and now I cannot bend my finger for the rest of my life. Can I sue the hospital that told me my ligaments were still attached, but really they were wrong? Thank you.

Re: Hospital Laws

Yes, you can sue a hospital for a failure to diagnose or a misdiagnosis of a condition.

However, the injury has to warrant the cost of the litigation and I am afraid that the loss of use of a finger would not support the cost of the litigation.

Unless you can get your Congressperson or Senator to change the laws in Illinois, the situation will continue where people without the ability to pay lawyers out of their pockets will be limited in recovering for the negligence and malpractice of doctors and hospitals.
