Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

DUI affect K1

1) I want to apply as petioner for my foriegn fiancee. I am US citizen.

2) I have 3 Prior Driving under the influence convictions. I have been alcohol free for over 1 year. I have documentation to prove this through A.A. meetings.

3) I also have a conviction for marijuana use when I was 16 years old. I am 43 years old now.

4) I have been married and divorced twice before. I have documentation to show proof of divorce.

5) My ex-wife filed an order of protection during divorce proceedings. It has since expired.

Will any of the above result in denial of a K1 visa application? I ask this, because I do not want to spend thousands of dollars, and then find out there is no way my fiancee will receive a K1 visa because of my prior actions.

Re: DUI affect K1

You do qualify for a K-1 fiancee visa although I suggest retaining a lawyer to help you through the process.
