Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois
Hello,
could you please advise me what can I expect going to the USA (being a Canadian citizen that used to live in USA for over 17 years (TN visa). I recently left USA and moved to Europe. Unfortunately I had some financial problems before I left USA and left some unpaid credit cards and a house. What can I expect going back to USA for a short vacation (friends' weeding). Can I expect problems at the border? How soon would immigration know about my financial problems? May I be prohibited to enter USA again? I left USA 4 months ago and want to get there again for a week in January 2011. Please let me know. Thank you.

I don't know of Immigration and Customs Enforcement having any access to credit or financial data. They will only hold you if you have been convicted of a crime and/or there is a warrant for your arrest.
