Pardons

I am in deportation proceding for a conviction (theft) in 1986. I entered the usa legally and married a us citizen for 9 years now and have a newborn. I was told that,if i obtain a pardon from the governor it will help my situation, since the conviction be wiped. Is this correct?

Yes. An unconditional pardon from the governor will wipe out the conviction for deportation purposes.
