Legal Question in Insurance Law in Illinois

Life insurance

How long should it take for an insurance company to pay a claim that purchased 7/15/91? Due to a late payment the policy lapsed in 1/2007. It was re-instated 2/2007 under the the same policy #. The insurance company is asking for a release to investigate the passed 20 years of medical history. The death certificate reads accidental death which was confirmed through an autopsy. Accidental option was not taken and is not an issue.

Re: Life insurance

The policy may set a limit on the amount of time to pay, or deny the claim. From your inquiry, I cannot be certain of which state law will apply, but there may be a statute or other authority that will help you as well. I would be glad to look into this for you.

Re: Life insurance

It is difficult for me to know what the problem is here without more information. I'd like to speak to you about it and read the correspondence from the company and a copy of the policy.

Call me if you want to discuss your situation in more detail.
