If someon is collecting Social Security benefits and unemployment benefits simultaneously, their unemployment benefits will be adjusted to reflect that. When your father applies for benefits, he must disclose any Social Security payments to the IDES in his application. Each time he makes his certification, he has to report the amount of benefits he received for the week in question.

When the IDES receives his certification for the week, it reviews the amount he claimed to have received and checks it against the information tied into his Social Security number. It then takes one half of the amount he received from Social Security benefits that week and deducts it from his weekly unemployment benefit amount. He receives the rest of the benefit in a partial unemployment payment.

Hope this helps.
