Legal Question in Employment Law in Illinois

I am an hourly employee at a grocery store. I am the beer buyer and to properly research the nesest products, i must use a computer. My boss has told me not to use the available computer at work and do it from home. I am a stay at home dad six days of the week and find it difficult to research at home, ie, fatherly duties and slow internet connection. Is this legal for him to tell me to work from home?
