Legal removal of tenant

A friend moved in with us in July of 2006 and we want him to leave. He's not paying rent. We did not draw up a lease. How do we go about this without the help of an attorney? Thank you. Patty

If he is not paying rent then he is a guest in your home. Have you asked him to leave? There is no legal way to remove him from the place since he appears to have no legal right to be there.
