Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Illinois

I contacted a firm in highland park Il to get me a loan mod. They hooked me up with a Ca, firm who charged me for the service in front with the agreement if they didn't do it I would get a rfind. After 5 months I spoke to my lender and signed a interest deferred agreement. I would like a refund. Do I Go to small claims court and if so whom do I make a claim upon? The co. I originally contacted or the firm in Ca?

By law, you are entitled to a refund. Moreover, in Illinois, a non-lawyer cannot represent you if you are already in foreclosure. So, yes, you would bring them to small claims court in Illinois. You just have to hope that they are still in business. You may be better served by sending a demand letter asking for the money and pointing out the myriad of violations of the law. I would sue both the firm here and the one in Cal. Feel free to email me if you have any further questions: [email protected]
