judge ethics hearing a case when friends with one of the parties involved
Can a judge hear a case when he is close family friend and goes to Church with one of the parties involved in a case?

That depends on a lot of the details. The Judge is not barred from hearing such cases, but may choose to recuse himself anyway. Either party can also move have a different judge.
If you feel you may be prejudiced by having this judge, you should speak to an attorney about your options.
