Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Illinois

Almost Died due to negligent doctor

I had a D & C, Laproscopy & a thermal ablation on and released. I contacted the doctor stating I still was feeling bad & throwing up.I saw him that day & he had a technician perform an ultrasound. The technician said that it was good that I was full, it made it easier for her to do a good ultrasound.I told the doctor that I hadnt eaten or drank anything since the surgery. He told me that this was normal. I called the doctor again, stating I still didn't feel well.He told me to take something for the nausea.I told him that I was short of breath. Finally, I went to the ER. I explained to the ER what was going on.They performed a CT scan & could not find anything. The ER was going to send me to ICU & put me on antibiotics. There was a surgeon in he took a look at me & told me he didnt not know what was going on, but he would have to open me up to see.The surgeon took me to the OR, where the original doctor & his 2 associates watched. The surgeon found that I was full of bile & that my small intestine had been knicked. He had to resect 2 inches of my intestine.I also had a partially collapsed lung & pneumonia. The surgeon had sent the intestine to pathology. The report stated that this was a result of the original surgery.

Re: Almost Died due to negligent doctor

How are you doing since the second surgery? This is very important. There appears to be some liability on the part of the original surgeon. However, if this is a common and known risk of the surgery, it could negate or impair the case. This most certainly should be reviewed by a medical malpractice attorney as well as a medical expert (doctor). We are pleased to assist you.
