Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Bullying/Harassment

My son is 15 y/o and part of his HS basketball team. On a school sponsored trip a teammate told him that he urinated in a drink that my son ingested without being aware of that. A coach heard the other player and another player teasing and taunting him about this. I have yet to hear about any disciplinary action from the school after 5 days since the incident. Should I retain counsel? Do I have any legal recourse against the school or this 15 y/o? Please advise. Thank you.

Re: Bullying/Harassment

Your first step is to follow up with the school and school district superintendent. The second step is to fiel a complaint with the local police and/or state's attorney. Absent damages, a civil suit is not something to consider at this time.

Re: Bullying/Harassment

My first question even before evaluating whether or not this is a sustainable civil action case, other than what the teammate said, is there any evidence that what he has said is true and in fact happened?

Absent evidence--and I mean tangible evidence-- any complaint you may make either with the police, the school and/or in courts will, in all likelihood, go nowhere.

I hope this helps-
