Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Car accident in another state

I was involved in a car accident while traveling through Maryland. I live in Chicago. Can I retain a lawyer in Chicago or do I have to get a lawyewr in Maryland. And are there any monetary disadvantages if I get a Lawywer in Chicago? Thank-you

I concur with Mr. Stein's response. Although you are free to hire an attorney anywhere you choose, it makes sense to hire an attorney experienced in handling car accident cases, and able to file suit if necessary. Good luck!

It is best to hire an attorney in the place where the collision occurred because the other driver can always be sued where the incident took place, but you may not necessarily be able to sue the other driver in Illinois. My office is in Illinois, where I handle automobile collisions as a part of my practice, but I also happen to be licensed to practice law in Maryland, where I could arrange to sue the other driver for you. Call me if you want to proceed. Larry Stein (630) 221-1755.
