Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Hello,

Was at the grocery store this past Friday when I slipped and fell. There was a wet spot. Didn't go to the doctor at that time. There were several employees that were present when it happened. Got up was in some pain. I thought one of the employees would have let the manager know. But I don't think they did. Hobbling around store. It (lower leg) wasn't in that much pain at the time but now I am noticing it isn't the same as the other leg. What should I do?

It is important that you seek medical care if you are injured.

You will also want to consult with and retain a personal injury attorney so they can request any video footage of the incident if cameras exist at the store.

You may even want to to back to the store and see id an "incident report" was made.

Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

I agree with Sal on on two things: 1) seek medical care first! and 2) thereafter, you should seek an attorney to represent you. This kind of case is handled on a no recovery no fee basis by most counsel, so it will not cost you anything out of pocket for representation.

I disagee about you going back to the store to discuss whether an incident report was made, nor should you talk with anyone who calls you from the store as doing so may make your case more difficult.

Good luck and I hope that your injury heals quickly.

1- get medical attention immediately to document the nature and extent of your injuries and to get the necessary treatment.

2- contact my office to discuss the details of your slip and fall. Depending on the details, you may or may not have a case but I have represented many such cases specially in various grocery stores. Often times, they are careless in making sure the aisles are clean and free of dangerous conditions that could cause harm and injury to shoppers.

But even if you decide not to talk to an attorney, you MUST get medical care immediately.

Hope this helps-
