Plaintiff awarded settlement without defendant being present. Summons not deliv

Summons was delivered to wrong address, when homeowner, mother, answered door advised man the person he was looking for did not live there but he threw papers onto floor. Defendent did not received papers but the plaintiff was awarded a judgement without him being present in court. How can this happen? What to do?

Under these facts, the judgment is void. Hire a lawyer to file a motion to vacate the judgment.
