Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

simple battery

I got punched in the face at a chicago club for bumping accidently into this guys girlfriend. I wasn't even looking at him when he hit me. He was arrested with a battery charge. I required stitches. What is my legal recourse with this guy?

Re: simple battery

1- you can sue him for assault and battery in an amount which would cover your medical bills, any out of pocket expenses, wage loss, loss of normal life and pain and suffering.

2- you can file for compensation with the State under the Crimes Victim Act.

I hope this helps,
