Do townhouse owners own the building attached to the interior of that townhouse

Whether or not you own any part of the "building" other than your own living space depends on how your association, if any, is set up. You could be part of a condominium association (even if you're a townhouse), other homeowners' association, or you may not have an association at all, as is sometimes the case. In order to determine what part of the "building" that you own, you should look at the association's documentation.
