tenant abandons apartment

What happens when a tenant abandons apartment for about a month owing 2 months rent without letting landlord know, but leaves furniture in the apartment.

Check the lease terms, but at some point the property will be considered abandoned by the tenant (I'm not sure how long it will take). At that time, you'll be able to do what you want with it.
