Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

lame condo association

8 unit condo building with 1 unit under foreclosure. Association president resigned 11/2 yrs ago r/t bylaws not being followed. Association has treasurer, sectretary and refuses to have meetings or elections. What can I do to remedy this situation?

Hello. This is a very serious problem. I have

advised many others in similar situations. You

need to hire an attorney and this matter should

be taken to the chancery court which is a court

of equity. The proper complaint should be prepared and filed to force the condo association to conduct business, pursuant to the terms of the bylaws. You should act quickly as

with any legal matters since time is of the essence. I am sure you have quite a financial investment here and you want to protect every dollar!! I would not suggests that you do this, without a lawyer. Condominiums are great, but small ones can be a terrible experience when the

board "drops the ball". Will be happy to discuss
