Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Land owner rights

I paid cash for property in 2003. Deed was never transferred to my name. I have 2 used trailers on property. The city declared trailers condemed and must be removed in 30 days or renovated or city will proceed to do so. If violated be fined $100/day til removed. The letter had no date anywhere on it. Now as of Jan 9th (?30?days after notice)I received a letter from the person I purchased property from saying that I have lost all claim to the property and any personal items need to be removed ASAP. So, basic we lose everything. I would like to know what rights do I have?

Re: Land owner rights

Hello. I can understand how you feel.

You have a right to the return of your

money, in my opinion. The person who

sold you the property may not own the

property which means that you could be

a victim of fraud. Filing a lawsuit

against this person is an option that you have. This deal should have been

in writing since land was involved. I

will be happy to discuss this with you

further and in more detail.
