Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I live in a 3 story, 6 unit apartment building with laundry room on first floor. I live in Illinois, is my landlord required to have at least one fire extinguisher in the building?

The building should comply with local codes, including fire prevention. The likelihood is "yes" and may even require more such as sprinklers, CO and heat detectors, exit and emergency lighting, etc. as additional and redundant systems. The best resource for you is to contact your local Building Department and/or Fire Department. And even if there was a fire extinguisher most codes require annual inspections to make sure they are fully charged. Once you get the answers you need from local authorities, you can decide what steps you might next wish to take.
