Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Real Estate Deed

I got recently divorced. By divorce papers the residence was awarded to me and I was granted exclusive possesion of the house. House was aguired during the marriage and property Deed has my name as owner with additional info ''married to XXXXXXXXX'' (my ex-husband name). Do I need a Quitclaim Deed to corect that info so my name will only exist on property Deed and information ''married to XXXXXX'' will be removed since I'm no longer married to that person? Or divorce papers are enough to verify that my ex-husband has no rights to the property.

Re: Real Estate Deed

You should have your Ex sign a quit claim deed conveying the property to you.

Re: Real Estate Deed

You need to get the deed and record it with your county's recorder of deeds. The divorce only orders your husband to comply.
