My street is public domain
We have been asking our Village to give us police protection for our street. Our homes are unincorporated and thus, we must call the County for protection of our property. They have now come back after a title search and tell us that our 600 feet of the entire street is public domain and we are not afforded protection by Village or County. What does this mean? Can we now be forced to incorporate? Are we not afforded any police protection and should this be then be reflected on our tax bills?

Police do not owe any specific person "police protection". One of the rights of people under our consitution is the right to defend oneself. In MOST states, that concept is reflected in Concealed Carry legislation. If you live in the socialist republic of Illinois, state government has consistently deprived you of that right.
With regard to the second question, it is impossible to tell what you are being taxed on without having a copy of the county tax bill.
