claim as dependant

If I do not receive child support any longer, can I claim a dependent who is in college and lives with me when not in school.

You can claim your child as a dependent as long as he/she doesn't claim himself on his own income tax return and as long as you are contributing at least half of his support.

It is always a good idea to see who will benefit most from claiming the dependent (either you, or your child).
