CPA Mistake

My CPA did not add my 2 incomes together on my taxes and now I owe money to the Fed. Is he liable for this mistake?

Re: CPA Mistake

If a professional person makes a mistake, you have to assess what your damages are because of it.

If he had prepared the taxes right the first time, you would have certainly owed the federal taxes. However, the additional interest and penalties imposed would not have been due.

Some tax preparers offer to pay the penalties in such a situation, but the tax would be yours to pay regardless.

Good luck to you.
